K-Mart,
Inc. contracted Shade Construction to completely renovate
the Wabash Avenue retail store. This included a relocated
entrance with an aluminum storefront, automatic doors and
masonry to match the existing, renovations of 10,000 square
foot of sales area, dressing rooms, renovation to the garden
center and a new restaurant in the store. All this work was
completed while the store was open and conducting business.
Work completed on the sales floor included continuous slat
walls around the perimeter, new sales gondolas and display
racks, flooring and painting. Shade's project manager and
superintendent worked skillfully with the store staff to help
keep construction from disturbing business.

most of Shade Construction's 25 years existence, Montgomery
Ward Company has been a valued and loyal client. Shade Construction
has completed renovations for this national chain in as many
as fifteen different stores in four different states. Renovations
were from corporate office space, warehouse alterations to
complete store renovations. Many times Shade was hired to
renovate areas they had built years before. Shade's commitment
to quality and aggressive scheduling was one reason Shade
Construction was Montgomery Ward's Maryland contractor of
choice.
